Carbon Emissions are Moving in the Wrong Direction, and We’re Running Out of Time

Hi friends, editor Bill here…  My intent for this site is to educate folks about the main one-to-two-dozen global warming solutions.  That way, you can know both the tools, and about your personal power, hopefully giving you the guts to use those tools.

To what end?  My dearest hope is to grow the next several generations of leaders, to solve what I perceive to be the biggest problem humanity has ever faced.

Therefore, most of my posts are positive and empowering.  I stay away from writing about the vast amount of scary news as the emerging crisis unfolds.  I figure mostly folks simply want to know, “Ok, I get it…  How do I do my part?”

But, well, this post is an exception to my rule:  Here is a very accurate, well-written piece from Rolling Stone called “The Truth About These Climate Numbers:  A new report shows carbon emissions are moving in the wrong direction, and we’re running out of time.”

I think you need to read it, from start to end.

And here is a second briefing, giving one of the best high-level summaries of humanity’s efforts to succeed that I’ve seen recently:  “Two business cycles to prepare for a low-carbon world.”

I think you need to read it, from start to end.

Friends, the clock is ticking and time is not on our side… there is reason for hope, but it is a cautious hope:  Everyone must do their part.

Not sure how to start saving the planet (civilization, really)…  Start by remembering Al Gore’s saying: “Hope is a renewable resource.”  Keep your morale up.

Then, our immediate practical first step becomes “Deeply know our personal Superpowers,” those skills over which we all have 100% control:

1) To save the planet, CHANGE OURSELVES FIRST;

2) To save the planet, INVEST OUR WORKING LIVES;

3) To save the planet, USE OUR VOICES and take advocacy seriously in all its many flavors: Never miss a vote and never stop influencing your government.  Influence the vast business world by voting with your buying power… business listens when you speak its language.  Set a solid example in your personal life.  Tell friends what we must do.  Finally, have a carefully-chosen annual donor program.  All of these are ways you can use your voice.

No one can take your personal power away.  Stay focussed on the list of substantive global warming solutions.

And at all times, cast aside the “learned-helplessness” that infects so much of modern life… the time is now for action.

Never give up.
