It’s good to keep in mind that even though the signs are often wry, defunding science is dumb public policy – think, for example, of the vast number of today’s good jobs that were pioneered by solid science.
Building on good jobs from science-based business models, tens of millions in recent decades have raised great families (families which by the way also had longer, healthier lives). No one argues this… The job market benefits from government-funded science.
In my area, Silicon Valley in California, there is great respect for the business model of marrying great science with entrepreneurial business thinking – a successful recipe seen over and over and over again.
Now is not the time to cut government funding for research posed by global warming, in particular climate change solutions and ways to adapt. Along with nuclear war, global warming is one of two biggest-threats to civilization.
To save the planet, use your voice (and in all situations, cast aside learned helplessness or apathy). Don’t let Big Oil, Big Coal and their fellow travelers be the only ones influencing our government, especially the new government in Washington, D.C. Use your voice, and download the Indivisible Guide to effective civic influencing.

Not sure where to start saving the planet (civilization, really)? Our Thesis Statement is: “Start by deeply knowing your personal Superpowers: ”
3) Use Your Voice and take advocacy seriously! Never miss a chance to vote, and never ever stop influencing your government and all businesses locally, at the state level, and at the national level. It’s on you to lead the way with global warming solutions, (especially the high-payoff proposal of fully-refundable carbon tax).
And in all cases and at all times, cast aside the learned-helplessness that infects so much of modern life… the time is now for climate change solutions.
